如果问我最喜欢怎样的歌声，我会说是Karen Carpenter那样的。答案虽然老土，但如此清澈甘醇的声线的确能抚慰人心。Christmas Collection再版了Carpenters的两张圣诞唱片，1978年的Christmas Portrait以及1984的An Old Fashioned Christmas。只要听过Karen唱Sleigh Ride，你就知道她的声音是多么适合圣诞了：“Just hear those sleigh bells jingling ring ting tingling too”，唇齿喉结的碰撞仿佛远方清脆的鹿铃；“Let's take that road before us and sing a chorus or two”，节拍和律动正是驯鹿在雪地上欢腾的奔驰。不妨把这套唱片当作Carpenter兄妹的家庭聚会，除了他们曼妙的歌声，还选编了巴赫的《圣母颂》和柴可夫斯基的《胡桃夹子》，实在适合一家大小围炉夜话。如果手头没有这套圣诞曲集也不要紧，听听他们自己的歌吧，比如Sing，比如Top of the World，一样散发着微黄的暖光。
